I'm so happy with the way this skirt came out. I decided to try out a new design and it looks great! The "V" section (where all the patchwork is) is not a separate piece, I just gathered the material and added it to the bottom. The effect is VERY slimming as you can see from the side view picture. This creates a spinny skirt that lies nice and flat at the waist! But the back is the absolute BEST part. I was going to just have it lace back and forth the way it's usually done when I came up with the idea of creating an insert that added a lot more interest. It turned out beautiful. The insert could be removed if someone wanted to cinch it way down. I think the pictures will speak for themselves! The patchwork portion is lined, all seams have been serged and the fabric has been washed and dried to prevent shrinkage.

Here are the measurements:

Waist 36 1/2 inches........(that's with it laced up as you see it in the pics...the back panel is elasticized and would open about 3-4 more inches if needed)

Length is 39 1/4 inches to be hemmed at whatever length you need

Spin is 110 inches

I've made some changes to the regular apron skirt pattern....first of all instead of just 3 straight panels, I made a big V insert to do all the patchwork on. Then I added slightly gathered material to the bottom of it. Its not really a ruffle, but its not straight either. You can't see it in the picture on the left...you'll have to go to the extra pics.

I made a shawl to go with it for those cool nights. I used log cabin blocks to create the design on both pieces. The section on the skirt with the patchwork has been lined, and so has the whole back of the shawl.

Measurements : SKIRT.....waist - 32 in, length - 29 in, spin 71 1/2 in.......SHAWL.....side to side - 74 in, top to bottom at the point - 38 in.

White eyelet ruffle varies from 6 1/2 to 12 1/2 in
